These four hurlers had big games for their teams on Tuesday September 3rd, 1957. Wilmer Mizell tossed a three hitter at Cincinnati in leading the Cardinals to a 4-0 win. It was Mizells 9th win of the season. Vern Law went the distance for the Pirates beating the New York Giants and ending their 8 game winning streak. It was Laws 14th win of the season against only 6 setbacks. Warren Spahn (Milwaukee Braves) won his 15th beating the Chicago Cubs 4-3, while Don Drysdale pitched the Brooklyn Dodgers to a 4-2 win over Philadelphia's hard luck hurler, Jack Sanford. It was Drysdales 14th win and Sanfords 13th loss. Duke Snider hit his 35th homerun of the year and Gil Hodges hit number 24. The Standings of the top four teams has Milwaukee on top with a 80-52 mark, four and a half games better then second place Brooklyn, who has a 76-57 record. Third place goes to Cincinnati with a 75-57 mark and Philly is 75-60 and they are six and one half games out of first.
