beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6 to 2.
 
Brooklyn tallied 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning with the help of 3

Milwaukee went ahead for good in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they scored
2 runs on 2 hits.  That was all the runs Ray Crone(1-0) needed.  Milwaukee
out-hit Cincinnati for the game, 13 hits to 10.  
 
Brooks Lawrence(0-1) absorbed the loss.  He was knocked around, surrendering 4
runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Philadelphia won the
hard fought contest in the 11th inning.  After two outs Rip Repulski blasted
a solo shot (his 1st of the season).  Philadelphia finished with 7 hits while
New York ended up with 4.  
 
The win was credited to Jack Meyer(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.
Marv Grissom(0-1) took the loss in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits
in 3 innings.
