Dick Drott had been getting bombed everytime he took the mound so far in the young 1957 season. He was 0 and 4 with two of those loses coming in relief. "I just didn't feel comfortable out there", said the young right hander. In one outting he gave up 4 homeruns and really struggled with his control. "I started to take something off my fastball, and when I did that they teed off on my mistakes", he added. Well, the Cubs have been struggling all year long and going into the game at Forbes Field on Wednesday they had a lock on last place with a 3 and 16 mark. In Pittsburgh, it was cool and raining and Drott had his good stuff as he limited the Bucs to 1 hit, a blooper by Bill Virdon, struck out 6 and walked 2. The Cubs won the game thanks to former Pirate Dale Long, who notched each of the Cubs 3 runs with two singles.
