Don Hoak had a great day on Thursday, May 2nd 1957. He hit 3 homeruns against the New York Giants to give him a total of 4 so far this season. None of the homers Hoak hit were exceptionallly long ones. They all cleared that short left field wall just 279 feet from home plate. His last blast just cleared the 17 foot barrier in left on a line drive off Gordon "Available" Jones. Hoak's average rose to .365. A crowd of just over 5 thousand at the Polo Grounds witnessed the feat. Posted by Picasa
