Roy Campanella had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the
Philadelphia Phillies in 13 innings by a score of 9 to 8.

Both teams were tied at 8 runs apiece after nine innings. Brooklyn ended up
winning it in the 13th inning. Sandy Amoros reached on an error. Two outs
later Duke Snider came up and he was walked intentionally. Carl Furillo then
laced a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Brooklyn and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans. This was the kind of game that
many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.

The winning pitcher was Ed Roebuck(1-1) who allowed no runs in 3 innings. Bob
Miller(1-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser as he did
not allow an earned run in his 3 and 2/3 innings of work.

Harry Anderson rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI in a losing cause for
Philadelphia.

One run was the difference at County Stadium as the Milwaukee Braves defeated
the Chicago Cubs 4 to 3.

Milwaukee had the winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3 runs
using 3 hits. Johnny Logan started the inning off right when he lined a
base-hit. After an out was recorded, Del Crandall stepped up to the plate
and he drew a walk. Wes Covington then doubled which scored a run. Danny
O'Connell was up next and he laced a single as another two runners scored.
Both teams totaled 7 on the afternoon.

Bob Buhl(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Gene Conley
was credited with his 1st save. Bob Rush(0-1) was the loser. He gave up 4
runs and 6 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings.

Shortstop Dick Groat had 4 hits and 2 RBI at The Polo Grounds where the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the reeling New York Giants in 10 innings by the
score of 6 to 5.

The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Pittsburgh came out the victor
in the 10th inning. After two outs Paul Smith ripping a solo home run (his
1st of the season). The New York bats were silent in the bottom of the 10th.

Roy Face(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Marv Grissom(0-2)
was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 2 innings allowing 2 hits and
no walks.

Stan Musial blasted a homerun at Sportsman's Park where the St. Louis
Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Redlegs 4 to 0.

St. Louis delivered all the runs required in the 7th inning as they scored 4
runs on 5 base hits. Cincinnati had 10 hits in the game while St. Louis had
7, but St. Louis had the more timely hits.

Lloyd Merritt(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Tom
Acker(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed St. Louis 4 runs
in 2 innings of work.
