Chico Fernandez is surprizing his Manager Mayo Smith with his rbi production so far in 1957. Chico is tied with the National League leadership in rbi with 24. Chico is also in 12th place in the batting average race with a .311 mark. Along with Richie Ashburn and Ed Bouchee, Chico's play is a main reason the Phils are only a half game out of first place.
