Ernie Banks became the fourth player to hit 3 homeruns in a game in 1957. The first was Don Hoak on May 2nd and then George Crowe turn the trick on May 14th and Duke Snider did it six days ago on the 20th of May. Banks did it in the second game of a double header with the Milwaukee Braves. Even though Ernie drove home 5 runs the Braves still copped the game 9-8. In the opener, Dick Drott pitched his second shutout of the season and lowered his ERA to 5.05 and improved his record to 3 and 5 with a six hit, complete game and an 8 strike out performance. In real life, Drott struck out 15 Braves and set a new Cub record for pitchers with those strikeouts. In the second game for Miwaukee, Eddie Mathews was 4 for 4 with one of those hits going for a double. Cincinnati has a one game lead after the games of the 26th of May.
