In a close game it was the New York Giants 6, the Milwaukee Braves 4 at the
Polo Grounds.

New York tallied 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. New York had just 6
hits for the afternoon. Al Worthington(3-3) allowed no runs in 2 innings,
and picked up the victory. Marv Grissom recorded the save, his 5th. Bob
Buhl(4-3) was the loser. He pitched 7 innings giving up 5 hits and 8
walks.

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 4
at Forbes Field.

Pittsburgh fell behind quickly as the St. Louis offense came through in the
first inning scoring a single run. St. Louis ended up with 14 hits for the
game while Pittsburgh had 10.

The win was credited to Murry Dickson(1-4) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs.
The loss was charged to Ron Kline(2-7). He pitched 3 innings allowing 5 hits
and 1 walk.

Robin Roberts had a strong outing as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the
Cincinnati Redlegs by a score of 5 to 2.

Philadelphia drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
as they scored 3 runs on 4 base hits. That scoring would be all that was
needed. Philadelphia had 10 hits for the night.

Roberts(5-4) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Don Gross(5-3)
ended up with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 4
innings.
