Bob Buhl held Chicago to 3 hits as the Milwaukee Braves defeated the Chicago
Cubs by a score of 3 to 1 at County Stadium.

Milwaukee came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had 3
base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Frank Torre who brought
a roar from the partisan County Stadium fans when he slapped a one-base hit
bringing in two baserunners. Milwaukee finished with 8 hits in the victory.

The win went to Buhl(4-1) who allowed 1 run in the game. Don Kaiser(0-4) was
the loser. He pitched 5 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 walks.

Left fielder Rip Repulski touched them all and had 4 RBI and Harvey Haddix
allowed Mayo Smith to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the
Philadelphia Phillies defeated the New York Giants 10 to 2 at the Polo
Grounds.

Repulski led the offense for Philadelphia. He doubled knocking in a run in
the 3rd inning, cracked a two-run shot (his 3rd of the season) in the 5th
inning and laced a single which plated a run in the 9th inning. Philadelphia
rapped out 14 hits for the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Haddix(4-1) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Stu
Miller(0-2) took the loss. He surrendered 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings and
saw his ERA increase from 3.50 to 4.35.

Johnny Podres pitched 9 strong innings at Forbes Field where the Brooklyn
Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 10 innings by the score of 2 to
1.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Brooklyn ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Jim Gilliam
tripled. After another out, Duke Snider came up and he doubled scoring the
run. Brooklyn managed 8 in their victory.

Podres(5-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 9 innings and allowing 1 run.
Clem Labine earned the save, his 5th. Roy Face(2-1) absorbed the loss in
relief.

Brooklyn now has a record of 22-13. With the loss Pittsburgh now has a record
of 17-18.
