Sal Maglie, former long time New York Giant, and now pitching for his long time rivals the Brooklyn Dodgers, pitched a near perfect game against the Giants at the Polo Grounds May 10th, 1957. His only blemish was a Don Zimmer throwing error. The rest of the batters he faced (27) went down to the big right hander's slants. Sal had a good mixture of fastballs and curves that had the Giant hitters' on their heels all night. A crowd of just under 12,000 saw the Niagara Falls, New York native turn in his masterpiece using only 116 pitches. He struck out three in winning for his second time this season against two loses.
