home run in the 2nd inning, cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his
6th of the season) in the 4th inning and hit a single in the 7th inning.
Chicago had a total of 8 hits for the game.

What a day for the Brooklyn Dodgers! They shellacked the New York Giants
pitching for 11 runs while Roger Craig(2-1), with relief help from Sandy
Koufax, surrendered 3 runs to New York.

Brooklyn started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first when they tallied 3 runs on 3 hits. The key at-bat was by Duke
Snider who silenced the crowd when he tripled which was good for two runs.
Brooklyn had 13 hits for the afternoon.

Craig got help from Koufax who was credited with his 1st save. Curt
Barclay(2-1) was tagged with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

to need. Philadelphia rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.

The win went to Haddix(2-0) who allowed 1 run in the game. Bob Friend(2-4)
absorbed the loss. Bobby Bragan lamented, 'Haddix was really aggressive
today. He kept coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our
guys down one after another - like so many bowling pins!'
