Smokey Burgess hasn't been getting too much playing time this year, but today he split the catching duties with Ed Bailey and he made the most of his 3 at bats. Smokey polled two gigantic homeruns into the right field bleachers at Cincinnati's Crosley Field. It was his first two homeruns of the season. Smokey has less then 15 at bats so far this season. "Both of those homeruns I hit tonight were right where I like the ball, down and in. Ronnie (Kline) gave me two pitches inside and low tonight and I didn't miss 'em" he smiled proudly. Roy McMillan drove in 4 runs in the night cap to also aid in Redlegs rebound. They dropped the opener to the Pirates 7-3 on two big 2-run homeruns by Frank Thomas and Bill Virdon. Both of those guys have been struggling all year and now it looks like they are showing some signs of breaking out of it. Posted by Picasa
