It was Vern's 2nd win of the season and losing pitcher Warren Spahn notched his third loss and was relieved for the first time in 7 starts. Slumping Gene Baker got the game winning rbi for the Buccos. With the loss and coupled with a Cincinnati win the Braves lead is now a game and a half. Philadelphia losing to St. Louis drops to third place
