Hank Aaron smashed 2 homeruns and Gene Conley went 9 strong innings as the
Milwaukee Braves defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers 2 to 1 at County
Stadium.

Conley(5-0) escaped virtually unscathed against the Brooklyn hitters. He
allowed just 4 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 1.69 to
1.48. The Brooklyn offense proved no trouble in the 9th.

Clem Labine(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning giving up 2
hits and no walks.

First baseman George Crowe ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Brooks Lawrence
whiffed 10 batters at Crosley Field as the Cincinnati Redlegs beat the
Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 1.

Crowe enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown'
in the 2nd inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 11th of the
season) in the 4th inning. Cincinnati managed 8 in their victory.

Lawrence(3-3) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. Jack Sanford(3-2)
absorbed the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 6 innings of work.

'Everything felt great' Lawrence said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody tonight.'

At Sportsman's Park the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the New York Giants 6 to
3.

St. Louis brought 5 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning when they had 5
base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Don Blasingame who thrilled
the crowd when he cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 3rd of the
season). St. Louis banged out 8 on the night.

Jim Davis(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Davis got
help from Hoyt Wilhelm who earned his 2nd save. Johnny Antonelli(2-3)
suffered the loss. He was knocked around by St. Louis, allowing 7 hits and 2
walks in 4 innings.
