Where has Willie been all year? The New York Giants have been struggling all year long. Going into Wednesday's game with Chicago, the Giants had a 9 and 23 mark. Mays' average was around the .300 mark, but his power and RBI numbers are down. In fact in those 32 game, Willie had only 4 homeruns. Today against the Cubs he had two singles, a double and hit his 5th homerun of the season, but the big spark came in the 4th inning when he singled and stole 2nd and 3rd base on successive pitches. It was his 5th and 6th stolen bases of the season. Even with the 4 for 6 hitting ledger, Willie drove in only 1 run. Giants needed 12 innings to beat the Cubs as young Mike McCormick pitched two scoreless innings picking up his first win of the season. In the other two games the Phillies made it two in a row over the first place Braves 4-1 and Brooklyn slowed down the red hot Redlegs 4-3. The top four teams are separated by only 1 and a half games... Posted by Picasa
