Carl Furillo had a big day for the Brooklyn Dodgers driving in 5 runs with a 3 for five day, raising his average to .284. The big day help the Bums beat the Braves 10-3. Other big games came from George Crowe, who hit two more homeruns, these at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field in the Redlegs 6-2 win over the Buccos. Crowe now has hit 19 homeruns and leads by four over second place Frank Robinson. Crowe also took over rbi leadership with 44. Another solid performance in that game was Gene Freese going 4 for four and uping his average to .299. Ruben Gomez hasn't been having a particularly good season, but he went the distance against the Cubs on a six hitter, beating the Cubbies 3-1. Walt Moryn did hit a homerun off of Gomez raising his league leading "gopher ball" total to 16. Posted by Picasa
