Games of Saturday June 29th, 1957

Willie "Pudden' Head" Jones is just one of the many Phillies who is having a better year then expected. "PH" had a 4 for five day in helping the Quakers beat the Redlegs in extra innings again. He is only hitting .233 on the year, but he only hit .219 in 1957. Other Phils who are hot are Ashburn +43, Bouchee +39, Repulski +39, Lopata +50 and I could got right down the line. As a team they are hitting at a .269 clip and should be around the .250 mark. Not to say their pitching hasn't been out of site either. Three out of the five starting pitchers have an ERA under Three. Their team ERA is right on three! The Strat-O-Matic "gods" like those Phillies...that is why they are currently leading the Milwaukee Braves by one game this late in the season. Wonder if things will even out? In know three teams that could use some "Philly Luck" and they are the Cubs, Cards and the Giants.
