Harvey Haddix racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts and catcher Stan
Lopata hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Wrigley Field as the Philadelphia
Phillies embarrassed the Chicago Cubs by the lopsided score of 10 to
0.
Haddix(7-2) put on a good performance. He didn't give up much, just 7 hits
and 3 walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA to 2.43. Philadelphia finished
with 14 hits in the victory.
Don Kaiser(0-6) was hit with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 6 hits and 3
walks in 3 innings. Haddix, when asked about his 11 strikeout performance
noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what
good does it do our team? But, on the other hand, since we won it feels
great!'
