Myron "Moe" Drabowsky tossed a beautiful 1 hit shutout in the second game of the Cubs doubleheader against the New York Giants. After losing game one 7-2 to Polo Grounders, Drabowsky slammed the door on the New Yorkers, allowing only a scratch hit by Don Mueller and two walks in Bruins 4-0 win. It was only the second win of the season for Drabowsky against 8 losses. Ernie Banks hit his 20th homerun of the season for the Cubs bringing him and George Crowe to the top of the homerun list for 1957. Crowe hit his 20th in game two of the Redlegs double header. After being shutout by the Buccos in game one 1-0, by Red Swanson, his second straight shutout, the Rhinelanders needed a two out, two run homerun by Don Hoak to wrestle away game two 8-7 over Corsairs. In that game Smokey Burgess bashed two boundry belts for Redlegs. In Milwaukee the first place Braves got a three hit shutout from Bob Buhl in game one over Philadelphia, but Don Cardwell returned the favor in game two scattering 5 hits in a 2-nil win for Quakers. In the only single game action for Sunday, June 23rd, the St. Louis Cardinals beat Don Drysdale and the Brooklyn Dodgers 5-3. Larry Jackson, who has an ERA below three, beat Drysdale, 8-1 so far this year, to bring his mark to 3 and 6. In the seven games on this Sunday, four were shutouts. Don Cardwell has won his last 6 starts and in his last 24 innings, he has allowed 3 earned runs. Swanson, a rookie for the Pirates, has run his streak to 18 straight innings without a run and that has Bucs' fans high in Pittsburgh.
