Games of Monday July 15th, 1957

Henry Aaron had a big day against the Brooklyn Dodgers batting right handed. This card was a mistake for the 1957 season with the exposer turned backwards for some reason. Anyway there wasn't anything backwards about Henry's performance at Ebbets Field as he crashed two homeruns, one a grand slam, drove in 7 runs and now leads the NL with 70 RBI. One game that was mysteriously left off the dailey report was the Cardinals getting a rare win over the first place Phillies. It looks like Strat-O needs to tighten up a few screws in their "blog program"...I have another train forming starting tomorrow...I will blog the games on the 16th and I think that the Philly-Cards game will show up.

Whitey Lockman had 2 base hits as the New York Giants defeated the Chicago
Cubs by the score of 2 to 0 at the Polo Grounds.

In the 5th inning New York scored 2 runs. The key at-bat was by Bobby Thomson
who thrilled the crowd when he smashed a two-run homer (his 2nd of the
season). Chicago threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Johnny Antonelli(6-5) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 8 innings.
Antonelli got relief help from Marv Grissom who gained credit for his 10th
save. Don Elston(2-6) was the losing pitcher.

Homeruns- H.Aaron-2(25th)

Center fielder Hank Aaron blasted 2 homeruns and Bob Trowbridge completed the
game without help from the bullpen as the Milwaukee Braves outscored the
Brooklyn Dodgers 10 to 1.

Aaron was in a groove all evening. The Brooklyn fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box. He smashed a two-run homer in the 3rd inning
and cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 25th of the season) in
the 9th inning. Milwaukee totaled 9 on the night.

The win was credited to Trowbridge(4-1) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Don Drysdale(9-3) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 6 runs in 3 innings of
work.
