Games of Saturday July the 19th, 1957. What a pennant chase we are having. It has been a four team affair most of the season. Now only one game in the loss column separates first through fourth. The Milwaukee Braves, who are currently on top with a 56-33 mark a half game in front of the Phillies at 56-34. Cincinnati stacks up next with a 54-34 slate a game and a half out of first. Brooklyn is the fourth piece of the puzzle with a mark of 52-34 and 2 and one half lengths behind the Braves. In action on Saturday the Dodgers and Cubs split a double header, both teams winning by identical 4-1 scores. In the lidlifter, Sandy Koufax again proved his mastery over the Cubs with a 3 hit, 11 strikeout performance. His only mistake was a "Bedford Avenue Bomb" off the bat of Bob Speake. Joe Nuxhall kept the Redlegs hot with 8 solid innings before giving way to Tom Acker for a 4-2 win over Phillies. Gus Bell raised his average ten points to .255 with a 5 for five batting slate for Rhinelanders. Johnny Antonelli got back at his former mates with late relief help from Ray Crone, a former Brave, as the Gianst knocked off the league leaders 4-3, for their second loss in as many games without the services of Henry Aaron. Aaron still nursing a sore elbow is not expected to play in the New York series and his replacement Johnny DeMerit is a far cry from Henry's bat. Von McDaniel had a complete game in the Cardinals win over Pittsburgh 3-2. "I was close to taking the kid out, said Manager Fred Hutchinson, but I played a hunch and he finished very strong in the 9th".
