Games of Sunday August 4th, 1957

We are starting to seesome declines in performance from players that have been over-performing. George Crowe hasn't homered in awhile because he hasn't played all that much. F. Robby is starting to dip down into the believable range of .360. There for awhile he was threatening four hundred. You see Willie Mays starting to climb the ladder in batting as he has come to within 8 points of his actual average...now that he is returning home to the friendly confines of the Polo Grounds we might see his and Hank Sauer's homerun totals rise

Bob Buhl completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Brooklyn
Dodgers were badly beaten by the very potent Milwaukee Braves, 12 to
1.

Milwaukee brought 5 runs across the plate in the 2nd inning with the help of 5
hits. That was all Buhl(10-7) needed. Milwaukee managed 13 in their
victory.

Sal Maglie(3-8) absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings and
saw his ERA jump from 4.20 to 4.75.

St. Louis was unable to recover after Philadelphia went ahead in the 3rd
inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by Ed Bouchee who silenced Sportsman's Park as he doubled bringing in two
baserunners. Philadelphia managed 10 in their victory.

Jack Meyer(4-0) allowed 1 run in 5 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Harvey Haddix gained credit for his 1st save. Vinegar Bend Mizell(4-5) was
