Games of Thursday, August 1st, 1957

As we start the month of August, you can see that the National League has three teams that have won sixty or more games and they also have three teams that have lost sixty or more.
If the standings were to finish the same as they did in 1957, here is how the teams would have to finish the season. The Cardianls would have to finish with a 47-7 mark. New York would have to win 35 out of their next 52 games. Milwaukee would have to win 31 out of their last 52, while Brooklyn would have to win just 26 and lose 28. Cubs would have to go 24-29, while the Redlegs would have to slide to a 20-34 finish. The two teams that would have to pull a big "el foldo" would be the two Pennsylvania teams. The Phils could win 15 out of their last 50 and Pittsburgh must go 12 and 39. Chances of this happening are slight indeed my friends.
