Games of Tuesday, July 30th, 1957

Five games were on the slate today as the Brooks and Bruins are trying to make up for early games washed out in April and May. They split their double dip with Flatbush Flock winning the lid-lifter behind the fine pitching of Sal "The Barber" Maglie, while Dave Hillman tamed dem Bums in game two. Lew Burdette tossed a shutout for first place Milwaukee as the Braves won 1-nil and extended their lead over second place Cincy and Philly by three and a half lengths. Cards got off the losing path with a 5-3 win over the hapless Giants. In that game Hank Sauer, who is having just a terrible year, hit his first homerun since June 7th. It was his 7th homerun of the season and his 17th RBI. Hank hit 26 homeruns and drove in 76 runs in 1957. Now you know why he wants the Giants to move to Frisco next year. The Polo Grounds Fans want to kill the SOB!!!
