Well since I last left you we were just finished the games of 28 August, 1957. Milwaukee had a slim game and a half lead over second place Brooklyn. The Dodgers had a quite easy three game set with the Giants at home and the Braves were reeling and trying to get some momentumn for the rush for home in September. They had a crucial series in Cincinnati. The Redlegs took game one and slipped to one game back. Meanwhile those lovable bums were playing like the Giants and lost at home to the Pologrounders...and slipped back to third place. Then the Braves rallied to take the next two games at Cincinnati, while the Flat Bush Flock dropped two more to the Giants. The Giants are now on a six game winning streak and are playing very good baseball trying to escape the National League basement. The hero today for the Braves was Eddie Mathews. He hit two more homeruns, that gives him 33 on the year; drove in 4 runs, that gives him 90, and raised his average to .331. Meanwhile George Crowe hit another homerun, that gives him 37 in a year when he really hit 31, and the league lead over Henry Aaron at 36. Labor Day holiday tomorrow with double headers in all four hometeam sites....
